Welcome to Family Engagement
As a parent, you are the single most important person in your child’s life. In order for your child to succeed, you must take an active interest in his or her schoolwork and activities; listen to and support his or her interests and goals; and give praise when he or she does well.
To help your child thrive as a member of The College Crusade of Rhode Island, it is important that you:
Encourage your child to live up to the Crusader Pledge.
Renew your child’s Crusader registration as requested by The College Crusade.
Release your child’s school records, including grades and attendance, to The College Crusade or its designee as requested. (This is so The College Crusade can identify your child’s needs for assistance in school).
Participate in seminars, workshops and other activities sponsored by The College Crusade.
Cooperate with your child’s teachers and mentors.
Make sure your child completes, signs and returns the “12th Grade Exit Information and Pledge Affirmation” form to The College Crusade when requesting a Crusade Scholarship.
Help your child fill out applications to all financial aid programs for which he or she may be eligible, especially the free application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
Crusade Family Engagement Workshops
Family Engagement programs provide opportunities for families to become more involved in their children’s education. The Crusade Family Engagement workshops allow families a better understanding of the educational system and the importance of families’ engagement in their children’s education. Crusade workshops focus on teaching parents how they can address concerns about their children’s education with teachers and school administrators. Workshops also inform families about their educational rights and the positive effect that parent and family involvement has on their child’s academic achievement.
