Overview

Family Advisory Board members act as a family liaison between Crusader families within their assigned communities. They provide information to Crusader families to enhance Crusader success. Members act as a link between Crusader families and The College Crusade of Rhode Island staff, schools, and service providers. They must be accessible to all Crusade families within their assigned schools and community.

Family liaisons provide The College Crusade with information from Crusade families, including needs for current & future programs, feedback on current programs, and suggestions for improvement. They also share information about The College Crusade with Crusader families in their communities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Crusader families with information on programs and services.
  • Work as a liaison between Crusade staff, families and communities.
  • Attend and participate in monthly FAB meetings at The College Crusade, bringing feedback from Crusader families to Crusade staff.
  • Successfully accomplish tasks and projects undertaken by the FAB.
  • Assist in the facilitation of Crusade events.
  • Maintain a monthly phone log of communication with Crusade parents.
  • Track and document activity on a monthly basis using the format required.

    Requirements

    Family Liaisons must attend monthly meetings at The College Crusade. The meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm at The College Crusade of Rhode Island office. Throughout the course of the school year, family liaisons will be required to participate in occasional late-afternoon and evening Crusade activities.

    Additional requirements include:
  • Ability to communicate with diverse populations.
  • Ability to function in a professional environment utilizing good interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and take direction.
  • Availability to work a varied and flexible schedule.
  • Availability to work a minimum of 10–20 evening and morning hours each month.
  • Must provide own transportation.
  • Ability to read and speak English fluently.
  • Bilingual a plus.

    Payment & Benefits   
       
  • FAB members receive a stipend (up to $12.00 an hour) based on the successful completion of the responsibilities and requirements listed above.
  • Training and development opportunities are provided by The College Crusade.
