We are offering literacy programs for fifth-grade Crusaders this year.

Saturday Adventures in Literacy

We are hosting a Saturday Adventures in Literacy program for 60 fifth-grade Crusaders from Providence, Pawtucket, Central Falls, and Woonsocket . Throughout the 20 weeks, students will use a computer-assisted learning program from Scholastic, Inc., called ReadAbout. Quiet reading, writing in response to text, and teacher-guided sessions are also incorporated into activities. The ReadAbout units focus on interesting topics from science (physical, earth and life sciences), social studies (American history, world culture and geography), and life (arts and entertainment, “your America ” and a “wild card” theme, which includes amusing and unusual topics of interest to students).


After-School Adventures in Literacy

Elementary school Crusaders at four selected Providence schools will also be able to take advantage of after-school programs to improve their grades in school! The after-school Adventures in Literacy program, like the Saturday program described above, will use the Scholastic ReadAbout computer learning program.
