College Crusade Advisors are at the heart of our services to students. They develop relationships with Crusaders, guide them in academic decisions, social development, and career exploration, and help them get ready for college.

Lilliam Abreu
The Met School
Lilliam graduated from Central High School in 1997. She attended the University of Rhode Island, where she earned a degree in Human Development and Family Studies in 2006. Lilliam has an extensive background in customer service and has held internship positions with the Urban League of RI and URI’s Talent Development program.

Times² Academy
Springfield Middle School
Ginny is a graduate of Stonehill College, where she received a degree in Fine Arts and Education. She has worked as Director of the Program for Arts & Athletes at the YMCA in Brockton, Mass. Most recently, she was the Minority Health Coordinator at the Socio-Economic Development Center for Southeast Asians.

Huascar Beato
Dr. Earl F. Calcutt Middle School
Huascar attended middle school in the Dominican Republic and then graduated from Hope High School. He attended Rhode Island College. Huascar is a former AmeriCorps volunteer who has also worked for Attleboro High School and the Intown Providence YMCA.

William M. Davies Career Tech High School
Robert graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education and History and a minor in African American Studies. He has been a Counselor in Training at Camp Davis, a Residential Tutor Counselor for the Rhode Island College Upward Bound Program, a Teacher with the Providence Summerbridge Program, a Live-in Counselor and tutor with the Talent Development Program, a Student Teacher in the East Providence School district, and a Residential Assistant at the University of Rhode Island.

Textron Chamber of Commerce Academy
Alexis graduated from Rhode Island College in 2006. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice and Sociology. Her career goal is to become a Correctional Counselor at the Rhode Island Training School.

Graciphy Castro
Adelaide Avenue High School
Graciphy graduated from Rhode Island College in 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology and a minor in Spanish. She plans to pursue a Master's Degree in Education or Counseling. Prior to joining the Crusade, she worked at West End Community Center as a Program Assistant.

Dwayne graduated from Central High School in 1997. He went on to attend Rhode Island College and graduated in 2003 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology.

John Carl Cruz
Roger Williams Middle School
John grew up in Providence. He attended E. W. Flynn Elementary School, Nathan Bishop Middle School, and Central High School. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Communication Studies from the University of Rhode Island. He was previously employed as a manager for Foot Locker and works at the University of Rhode Island every summer in the Talent Development program.

Shamika graduated from Johnson & Wales University in 2005 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management. While she was working toward her degree, she served as an Afterschool Program Coordinator for Gilbert Stuart Middle School.

Stephen Herrera
Woonsocket Middle School
Stephen graduated from Cranston East High School in 1998. He then entered the University of Rhode Island, where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology in 2002. Before joining the Crusade, he worked as a case manager.

Mayamu Kamara

Carl G. Lauro Elementary School
Originally from Liberia, Mayamu graduated from Shea High School and then from the University of Rhode Island, where she earned a degree in Communications and Art and minored in Business. She has been employed at Walt Disney World, URI’s Ram’s Den, and Rehabilitations Resource, Inc. Most recently she was a Youth Director for St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. Maya’s long-term goal is to work for the United Nations, helping to develop Africa.

Anibal graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in 2003. He then attended Rhode Island College, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Management in 2007.

Alicia Proctor
Charles E. Shea High School
Alicia graduated from the Community College of Rhode Island in 2003 with an Associate’s Degree in Human Services/Substance Abuse. She then worked full time as a Substance Abuse Counselor and Case Manager at a residential rehabilitation center. In May 2005, she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Rhode Island College. She plans to pursue a Master’s Degree in Agency Counseling at Rhode Island College.

Brandon, a graduate of Hope High School, graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Rhode Island with a double major in Political Science and Psychology. Previously, he attended and graduated with Highest Honors from the Community College of Rhode Island.

Central Falls High School
Jessica graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 2001 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology and a minor in Sociology. Before joining the Crusade, she was employed at Nickerson Community Center as Program Coordinator for a Workforce Program.

Danny graduated from Johnson & Wales University in 2007 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing. He has worked as an account representative for Citizens Bank and Bank of America. Danny also spent a year as an AmeriCorps volunteer for the Crusade. He plans to pursue a master’s degree in education

Ranika Spiver
Woonsocket Middle School
Ranika is a former Crusader who graduated from Classical
High School in 2001. She went on to attend the University of Rhode Island,
earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications in 2006. Ranika previously
worked for the RI Mentoring Partnership as an AmeriCorps volunteer. She also
has worked for the RI Key Program, assisting adolescent females with everyday
life skills.

Cooley Health, Science and Technology High School
Reuben attended East Providence High School. He graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Development and Family Studies, with a concentration on early childhood and adolescent development, and a minor in Psychology and African American studies. He was a Resident Assistant at URI and has worked at the Roger Williams Day Care Center and Champs Sports.

Woonsocket High School
Ralph, a former Crusader, graduated from Central High School in 2003. He attended the University of Rhode Island, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Textile, Merchandising & Design in 2007. Ralph has served as an intern at the McGrath Judicial Complex Adult Parole and Probation Department. Previously he worked for the Crusade as an instructor in the Ways to A’s summer study-skills program.

Hope High School
Kalomo earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Rhode Island College. He has been part of the AmeriCorps LEAP program and has worked at the Providence Center of Psychiatric Services.

Central High School
Chris graduated from Feinstein High School for Public Service in 2002. He then pursued a triple major at the University of Rhode Island, graduating in 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Secondary Education, Social Studies, and Political Science. He has worked as an Academic Course Tutor in the Talent Development program at URI.
